Experience
I am a newly retired teacher, who is missing teaching. Last year, the first of my retirement, I continued as a substitute teacher. I also took on the job of remedial teaching for Math (Grades 3,4 and 5) and Reading (Grades 3,4 and 5) at the school where I used to work. I have also had experience, over many years, in teaching summer school. I have over twenty-five years of teaching, in high, middle and elementary schools, both in The USA and overseas. My teaching license has endorsements in Elementary Education, Geography, Earth and Space Science and Psychology for high school, and Special Ed.-General curriculum K-12. In addition, I have completed the requirements for an endorsement in ESL. I have demonstrated success in coaching Mathematics. My specialty is in imparting the ability to think mathematically, by solving problems as much as possible 'in the head', and by use of estimation to simplify problems before trying to calculate. I have many short cuts and simplification tricks that work. In reading I demonstrate how to condense information in each paragraph to just one, or a few words, and use this information to remember what has been read and to locate answers.
