Experience
I have experience as an ESL and English tutor in several states and countries. I have been a bilingual middle school teacher as well as an AVID tutor. Even though I have taught many subjects, including social studies, science, and math, my favorite subjects to teach are the languages. I am a native speaker of Spanish, and I am fluent in Italian, French, and English. I have studied Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin), and Russian. I've also lived in each of these countries (except for China and Russia), and have become immersed in their culture. I can relate to the difficulties students face when learning a language. I will adjust a lesson to incorporate a student's interests and needs. I can follow a set curriculum, and yet keep lessons fun and engaging. I studied law in Panama and England as an undergraduate, and earned a master's degree in human relations from Open University (OU). Due to my background, I tutor mostly the languages (Spanish up to level 4, French up to level 3, and Italian). I also tutor English, ESL (English as a Second Language), and math (elementary math and algebra 1). I am an avid reader and spend my free time curled up with a good book!
