Experience
I am currently a Biology and Chemistry teacher in the public schools. I have taught AP and IB HL Biology and APES for 8 years. In addition, I have taught Biology and Chemistry for 24 years in my current position. I know the Pearson (SOL ) publisher and have many resources to assist you in gaining a better understanding of the content. I too, am well versed in how College Board and IB ask content and analysis questions. AP and IB tests just about the content but one also needs to develop the reading and writing skills to answer FRQs and short response. I am currently getting geared up to teach my first year of Anatomy Physiology at a local college in the evening. I am very enthusiastic and energized about this coming semester. I also have previously taught evenings at TCC and ITT in Biology and Environmental Science. I enjoy teaching and am passionate about Biology and Chemistry. Most of what I read is nonfiction and current research in the field of Evolutionary Biology and Biochemistry. I have taught for 21 years in VA. I live in Virginia Beach, Kempsville area. I was Virginia Association of Science Teachers 2007 Biology teacher of the year, 2008 BioInstitutes' Biotechnology teacher of the year for the state of Virginia and a finalist for the Presidential Excellence Award in Science Education for the State of Virginia.
