I believe that all students have the ability to succeed and the students in my courses know that is the expectation. My goal for students that I engage with is to teach them that learning is a lifelong experience that can have positive, long term affects. I have taught social studies in the Virginia Beach Public School system at the middle school level over the last 4 years. I have taught three different levels of social studies, over my 8 year career; civics and economics, and U.S. history both I and II. My license includes the ability to teach language arts or English (course names may change slightly in different geographic regions.) In addition, I coach the football and wrestling teams at the same school where I teach. I feel it is my goal to create a safe and welcoming environment whether it is in the classroom or the gym. My career choice has allowed me the opportunity to work with a variety of children from multiple age groups ranging from kindergarten through high school. I encourage students to use the materials they learn in class and incorporate them into their own experiences.
