I graduated Old Dominion University in December 2009, with a Bachelors of Science in Communications with an emphasis in film production. I minored in Journalism, taking many English courses. One of my favorite Journalism courses was Writing for TV News. It was so interesting, and I learned so much about the different styles of writing. I graduated Cum Laude and was on the Deans List. After college, I also got my Certified Nurse Assistant license, to become a CNA.
Experience
I have previous tutoring experience of tutoring Spanish to a group of elementary school children. I also recently tutored my mother to help her pass her real estate license; placing a major focus on the math portion. I want to be a tutor because I love helping children understand what they are learning, rather than just memorizing and preparing for a test, just so they can forget it right after. I also like to help students learn study skills that are unique to how they learn and retain information. I had a learning disability when I was younger; through tutoring of my own, and being able to understand how I learn, I was able to cope with my disability and graduate college with honors. Relevant classes: Journalism, English, and Politics classes in college; AP US Government, Honors English, and AP Psychology in High School.
