Experience
I received a bachelor's degree in English, focusing on Rhetoric and Writing, from Pepperdine University. I also concentrated in Feminist Rhetoric and Film Theory. I pursued a lot of different studies and activities while at Pepperdine, including music, vocals, improv, and publishing. I started tutoring during my time in undergrad, and I worked in the writing center as a lead tutor. I worked with undergrads and grad students to build better writing skills (organizing, developing a thesis, etc.). I also worked as a tutor with young students in elementary school. I continued to tutor first-and-second-year college students even while working toward my master's degree. I've also taught at the college level. I feel comfortable tutoring Reading, Writing, ESL/ELL, Grammar/Mechanics, Art, English, and Social Studies. As someone with ADD and who has taught students with ADD/ADHD, I have both personal and professional experience helping students succeed academically in the face of difficulties related to the disorder. I've found that individualized attention and patience are very important. I currently live in Virginia, and I am looking forward to teaching again. In my spare time, I love the arts, including film, theatre, and literature. I also enjoy football, fashion, travel, cooking, and DIY projects.
